Aquaponics is a great way of combing your passion for fish, with your passion for horticulture. This ancient method utilises the waste your fish produce by recirculating the water into your raised bed, in turn feeding your plants.
Clay pebbles are commonly used as the bulk of this substrate as it provides excellent drainage. Peat plugs or Jiffy Plugs containing your seeds are then buried in the clay pebbles. The nitrogen rich solution will then flood your raised bed, promoting healthy, consistent plant growth. These systems are not recommended for use with growing flowering plants due to their additional potassium and phosphorous requirements.
